Will be ok2 wrote: Mon Sep 28, 2020 9:31 pmAgain how is this true by any means? I suggested a boss event, I said I didn’t care which event any event was fine. It’s so easy to make a false narrative online it’s insane. Also crazy how an ex admin can bait and continue it. Shameful honestly

Little food for thought. I wanted the event to pvm, to have a reason to play, Which is why I’m currently rank 2 for the leaderboards, I wanted the event so everyone had a reason to play, when was the last time you seen bones pvming? Yet he’s rank 1 atm... even 99 skillz said today “wow I finally have a reason to play on this account”. BECAUSE OF THE EVENT I SUGGESTED. I made 1.5T in a month merching with no events, why tf would I need an event to make money merching?
In the original post, you suggested Corporeal Beast event. So your claim that you didn't care what event we would get is false.

If you suggested that particular event just to profit from it, then your suggestion is dubious. There is something to be said about suggesting something for the sheer joy of it vs. meeting a very basal end on your part. And that only to make you slightly richer.

So it's not that your motivation was enormously sinister, but that it was so petty. All this is of course predicated on the fact that you did suggest this for purely selfish reasons.
Well put brother.

Gotta say I'm with @Will be ok2 on this one.

When I saw Will's suggestion my first thought was "oh you just want an event because you're sitting bored at home". For a moment I considered refusing because of his selfish reasons for wanting it, but then I thought, how pathetic would that be? Self-interest plays a part in the suggestions and opinions of nearly everyone on here. Just about every suggestion that is made isn't done solely for the good of the server but also because the player suggesting it actually wants that for themselves. Even the people who said YASSS to this particular event suggestion probably did so because they themselves wanted to reap the benefits from it. That doesn't make them despicable, just regular human gamers. Besides, self-interest and believing something to be good for the server aren't mutually exclusive.

I can (and often do) apply this reasoning to every suggestion I read. Someone suggests making CW gear buyable for PKP? Well of course you want that, you just really want that gear and you happen to be sitting on a huge stack of PKP. It's something we should always take into account but if that alone was a reason to refuse then no suggestion would ever be accepted. It's important to know why someone wants something but that doesn't mean it's automatically a bad idea.

Are we really going to make it a thing that anyone who suggests or supports something isn't allowed to benefit from it in any way? That seems like an impossible system to me tbh. You can all act like mother Teresa but everyone here is all too happy to embrace the opportunities the game presents them with, even when those opportunities are the direct result of something they suggested or supported. Well, everyone except Patel perhaps, but then again the only reason he hasn't been declared a saint yet is because he's still alive.

As for a moderator revealing this information, as long as they didn't use their staff powers to obtain the information in the first place I think that's fine. While our records show that Raj did check the logs to look into these transactions, that was 14 hours after he made his post here so I don't think he abused his position in any way.

I suggest a prayer, smithing or hunter event within 2 weeks because I benefit from it. Thanks in advance.

I wanted to indulge in a moment of self-righteousness. Why, oh why did you have to ruin it for us?

Of course one suggestion doesn't make a person selfish. Its the constant self-centered suggestions under the pretext of being a selfless suggestion. There is nothing wrong with making a suggestion that would benefit yourself and not many others. I do it all the time (blurite rock deposit box, blamish snail slime, noted bars drops for metal dragons, etc) Just don't act like it is for the greater good of the server and then profit behind peoples backs. Comes across as deceptive and lame.

Even if he did check logs before revealing, I would have no issue with that. As a community member who is voting on suggestions, I want to know if someone has an ulterior motive.

I'm not sure I can see the distinction. All suggestions that are posted are presented as things that would be good for the server. No one ever mentions how a suggestion would benefit them personally even though that's almost always part of their motivations for posting it. How come WIll is deceptive while everyone else is not?

Would that not be a breach of privacy? Where do we draw the line then? So you can't expose a player's alts but you can expose their activities on said alts, and by doing so give everyone a pretty good idea who those alts belong to? IMO it would be far less messy if we stick to our policy that staff can't use their privileged access to reveal any information that isn't pubclicly available.

Why does everything Adam says feels like a huge troll with a spec of reality in it. And then people try to argue with him for realzyz.
