> Buy out a good majority of the rares while they basically crashed.
> Lower the rate of rares obtained through Mboxes.

Honestly, 2 simple suggestions that will go a LONG way over a course of time.

I can provide more ways, but let's see how this suggestion gets handled first.

Now that's easier said than done. We're not economists either and we don't have a crystal ball that tells us what will happen if we take a certain course of action (otherwise it would be easy).
We do have some ideas of what we're going to do, but we want to make sure they are the right thing, therefore we ask the community their opinion of what should be improved about the economy. Perhaps they have insights we do not have, or they know certain things we don't. And it certainly doesn't hurt to hear what the community has to say about this matter - then at least we'll know whether they would agree to what we do or not.

That's why we have polls.

The poll options is not nearly enough to cover everything, but it's a start. Most importantly, we want you guys to point out what you think is wrong with the economy and what should be improved about it. Then we can go into detail on those problems you present.

Mike I recently completed an economic class.
This will do nothing but change alch price.
The only way to increase price is demand.
So more items need to be bought. Even though billions will be added hopefully construction can help suck some out.
We need an item sink.
Raising price won't do anything.
Raise claws to 1b each. Wont matter people will still sell 500m.
However some prices may need adjusting to their current value.
I hope that sounded mire constructive than mean. I don't want to sound mean

The item sink will be worked on. The only thing we really need are more ways to get rid of cash. This can NOT be a tax of some kind.

Well, think of it this way. If you are to change the price, that changes the alch price as well. When the alch prices rises above the sell price, the items will start to be alched. This will get rid of items, but bring in even more cash. If you then level out cash by erasing a certain percentage from all banks, which is something you sounded like you were talking about doing earlier, then it should help to some extent.

If I was in Mike's position, I'd manually pump raw materials into the game
so that the prices of items were down to lower.

I like the idea of being able to profit from
collecting from the resources, but a lot of the
people playing the game have matured and
have other methods that require less
'grinding'. Bossing, slaying, merching,
etc. have removed the need for new
players to sit and grind out various skills, like fishing sharks for example( store decreases this).

I believe price tampering will always be bad idea, players should not get used to the idea that prices should remain fixated. As with life, prices rise and fall. And I feel this would only benefit a select group of players, as opposed to the majority.

However...

By reducing the price of raw materials, the price of gold rises a little bit. The trick wouldbe preventing it from rising too much so that items are dirt cheap again and thus making the game's players 'too rich', yet not leaving it alone so much as to make players 'too
poor'. I this will help put the market back on track for a balanced economy would seem to help a lot of players. Those who wanted to grind out raw materials could, and those who boss or slay for their cash could continue to do so and not see any adverse effects.

Sort them out. Start by:

-> Filtering out the majority of rares + customs.
-> Filter out the a large number of items such as: Abyssal Whips, Amulet of Furies, Dragonfire Shields, Barrows Sets, Bandos Sets, Armadyl Godswords, Dragon Claws and much, much more.
-> Reduce the number of these items that can enter the game. Reduced odds on Mystery Boxes / remove Custom Whips from Donator Stores + replacing them with other alternatives are a way to start. Drop rates on bosses are already quite low, but I would personally recommend lowering Nex further still.
-> Devise a system to control the supply/demand of these items in the future, to try and prevent a permanent failed economy (in terms of what we have now, which I would call 'permanently failed'). It shouldn't be something that results in a planned economy, where you control everything, as this would just cause chaos and distrust towards prices and items in general.
-> Find a way to reduce the impact of Honors in PVM - they contribute greatly to fucking over items like Divine's/Nex Gear, as they can be used for quick kills and easy loot, with no risk. Not to mention they have free access to a Fortune Whip.

In order to try and filter out customs and rares from the game, there are a couple ways that I feel would work well:

- 'Help' someone remove a vast quantity of items via staking, and then wipe that account. People will bitch if they find out what happens, so don't let them ;)
- Secretly buy them out (preferably through users who you can trust) so that people constantly sell them and are not aware that they will certainly leave the game. If people are aware of this, fewer will want to sell. Prices will rise for a short period of time, but they will crash hard in the long term if it is publicised.
- Give people an incentive to choose to remove their own items. Offer them a Black Partyhat if they trade in 5 Party Hat sets, or a Golden Partyhat for a Custom Whip Set, for example. Basically filter them out by offering people something simple yet desirable in return. Making these items limited time only offers may help or it may not, but offering a variety of items is a good start.

*I don't really think I've explained it all too well, but I tried. Plsnoh8 :3
