Re: Out-of-game Moderation
Lets get back on topic, sorry guys.
I think discord moderation is fine to a sense. If jokes\trolls are taken as toxic statements by someone, just block them so you don't see them. If towards a mod+ , its their loss because they can't ask for help when needed and shouldn't have acted up to get blocked in the first place.
Little banter here and there isn't bad, hand out some warnings and if it still is a shit show or spamming toxic things, then resume with correct punishments.

Re: Out-of-game Moderation
Such a complex topic.
On 1 hand, I understand the frustration you feel from investing so much time and energy into projects, just for those receiving to product to be ungrateful or downright disrespectful. But Raj, you can sometimes come off as really really arrogant. It might not be intentional. One example was when my friends and I were trying to report a dupe happening during rollbacks, and you dismissed our claims immediately saying it wasn’t possible without even looking at the proof we had. Problem got solved eventually though.
On the other hand, there has to be some room for constructive criticism. Mike can make the argument that he gets the same emotions when he was reading your criticisms on the forums due to not releasing your hard worked combat achievements.
Expanding moderation to outside of forums I am in favor of, but I don’t see a way we can draft rules or guidelines to successfully moderate the difference between constructive criticism and destructive criticism.

The assumption is that with any real punishment, we lose players.Wir3d wrote: ↑Sun Jun 16, 2024 12:12 am Lets get back on topic, sorry guys.

Hot take:
I don't think all players actually benefit the server equally. Shitty player bases ruin communities and kill games. Who's joining an unwelcoming environment? And this perspective of "well it's the internet," is known to everyone, but we're not 13 anymore. It holds limited ground because people have standards now and expect adults to be able to commit to a bare minimum.
Banter is different from constantly getting under people's skin. At some level you have to dehumanize them and not see a person behind the screen to cause the kind of conflict I see on here sometimes. Still, things sort of work if people have each other's backs on any side of a conflict. It doesn't work when you just have a toxic pool and people feel less and less motivated to jump in it on a daily basis.
Edit: actually, I think the server thrives when you have a sizable community with multiple tribes and plenty of people in the middle. I'm not anti conflict, but there needs to be a buffer between the radicals and the impartials - right now there really isn't.

Thats true, but I am willing to lose a couple players that are causing problems to the majority of server.
We can moderate the discord to a sense tho, but truly it'll never happen. As people are put in power to punish and moderate, they take it upon themselves to make those decisions on what is right and wrong and not follow the guidelines set upon them. I 100% agree that certain ppl causing drama every day should be timed out and ultimately removed when asked countless times to stop but where do you draw the line? If some are taken as jokes\trolls and others see it as bait\flame, who is in the right? Someone will always be hurt and someone will always be punished but who wins in the end. I think mods are doing a good job keeping discord clean of all rule breakers as is.

Re: Out-of-game Moderation
The same issues with the game are the same issues the game had every other year, lack of updates, lack of communication from the owners and lack of players. This server would do so much better with new "supers" but doubt Mike and Rapsey will ever want to do that incase of "fear" I guess of been kicked out of there own server. Would personally love to see a few new advisors kicking it around its always nice to see patel knocking around and always sharing his thoughts. This is without saying obviously inactive advisors shouldnt have there rank removed, I think there are a few people in the community who could honor that rank and truly would deserve it.
Only been active in the discord maybe for 3-4 weeks and I personally think its kinda crazy how a dude who has actively spent hours on hours helping to better the game and dev the game just constantly get baited and shit on for nothing. Does he reply back and "flame" back sure, but who wouldnt and sometimes its easier said then done to just ignore it ect but, if you've spent your free time bettering the server and you just get shit on im sure most would react the same. With that been said personally dont think banning people for simple "banter" or flame should ever be the case just mute them for a certain amount of time and increase the duration of the mute depending on repeat offenses. I would suggest having "forums moderators" and discord mods/helpers back which they would have no interaction within the staff team but purely just monitor the toxicity within the forums and discord. Tbh there isnt much to monitor with 10 active people playing the game but would take some heat of the current staff team ect.
Its sad to see such game and community die out due to lack of owners not wanting anything to do with there "baby"

What’s sadder is the staff team blatantly siding with the baiters, as you’ll see by both my mod and dev ranks disappearing since posting this thread. Tragic that the behavior is effectively encouraged
