Re: Inflation
Maybe @Thoby can come up with another 'perks' list that requires GP instead. Similar to how slayer perks made slayer points way more valuable this could be a good long term money sink for everyone

Re: Inflation
I don't believe inflation in an MMO is ever possible to fix without a full reset on everything back to the beginning, which only really puts the issue off until later.
A full reset is also a horrible horrible idea.

Re: Inflation
I like the video, and maybe it's true that an eco won't be in its golden years for forever, but we can try and mitigate when it gets out of hand. Even right now it's not 'out of hand' but we see the pattern and would/should get ahead of it by doing something now. I think something that costs players biweekly or monthly would be a good start that isn't 100% necessary for progression, but end game players would continue to purchase as a consumable to have a need for gp rather than items.Church wrote: ↑Mon Jan 03, 2022 10:16 pm I don't believe inflation in an MMO is ever possible to fix without a full reset on everything back to the beginning, which only really puts the issue off until later.

Re: Inflation
Unlocking new, toggleable emotes for money would be cool, dumb, not have many consequences, etc.
Demonic throne for your ::afk? 500b
Flying carpet for your standard walk/run? 1T
Spin emote, except it's counter clockwise? 2T
Etc
Tons of gp for very minor changes that can be flaunted to varying degrees

Re: Inflation
Honestly I'm not sure what effect it would have. It could go either way, although the cynic in me suspects that most people would use the extra slots to have more overpriced offers on sale, just in case someone needs it badly enough to overpay.Thearlygamer wrote: ↑Mon Jan 03, 2022 6:52 pm I think doing this for G.E. slots would be a massive help when trying to add items to the eco. I would assume most wealthy players have most their G.E. slots full (whether to merch or trying to get rare items), it just isn't worth for them to put in a 2b bandos chesplate when they're trying to sell a 60b perfect ring. If they're allowed more slots than they need then maybe they'd be more willing to sell off some items, or the opposite happens and they use those to do further merches which increases the price of the items in the long term.
Perhaps a silly idea but maybe it would help if there was some form of recognition for it? Maybe something like a mercher highscore ranking people by how much trade volume they have sold through the G.E.?
Now there's an excellent idea! Well, maybe not the spin emote but the ::afk and walk/run would be a pretty big show-off.Patel wrote: ↑Tue Jan 04, 2022 7:48 am Unlocking new, toggleable emotes for money would be cool, dumb, not have many consequences, etc.

Re: Inflation
I felt the that it could go either way, but tbh most merchers I would assume are not the top 1% we think they are, I think the top 1% that do merch focus on things like custom rares that are a whole different conversation. Would it be possible that when players are looking at the current sale/buy prices on the grandexchange it would show from green, yellow, and red with green being a good deal, yellow being medium, and red being overpriced at least so it gives players an indicater before they overpay? This would go based off the current prices median range. It might be a little over bearing and feel like the server is putting the price, so maybe add a new team to do biweekly/monthly price updates as needed(if this is needed at all)?Rapsey wrote: ↑Tue Jan 04, 2022 5:05 pmHonestly I'm not sure what effect it would have. Re: Inflation
Should be possible, but I think the result might be a bit artificial and arbitrary since we're the ones who decide on ::prices so we get to pick and choose what will be labeled under- or overpriced.Thearlygamer wrote: ↑Tue Jan 04, 2022 6:07 pm Would it be possible that when players are looking at the current sale/buy prices on the grandexchange it would show from green, yellow, and red with green being a good deal, yellow being medium, and red being overpriced at least so it gives players an indicater before they overpay? Re: Inflation
the last one was a bit of a joke But that's the flavor of idea I'm going for
Other things that come to mind:
AFK Emotes:
- ::e 2339 (drunk guy in chair with empty beer)
- ::e 1119 (falling, might be too distracting tho)
- Alternative Death emotes/gfx (no ideas... yet)
- Custom teleport gfx/emotes (same as above)
- Custom skill emotes? I.e. ::E 2327 would be a sick bank-stand crafting emote, even if you're not actually using an axe. I'd be happy to brainstorm more examples if this seems cool.
Edit: worth heeding adam on this
It's still effectively a lot of cash, but makes sense that it should be exclusive in other ways too. Who has 500b and doesn't have the means to get an mstone in the first place?
