I told him gray, black, white or darkish blue would be better

Preferably gray so it mixes nice with the background and thus removing his name kinda.

Gray is used for search engine bots. Black is impossible to read on our dark background. White is reserved for founders like Hamade. We already have shades of blue and anything darker than the default user color would be very hard to read. That's why we moved moderators from traditional mod blue to more pink/purple shades. I guess we could repurpose forum mod cyan since we don't have those anymore (for now) but that actually hurts my eyes more than this.

Only thing I can think of that would be better is to make it a little darker so it's more like teal.

And tbh, we really need a special color for a person that never logs back in and made a mess of the game when he was about to quit?

Something significantly darker than helper gold so it's easy to tell the difference but not so dark that it's hard to read? Idk if the gap between developer brown and staff manager orange is wide enough to squeeze another color in. Darker gold would be really close to the bronze/brown that developers have.
