See, when you apply that logic to other statuses then it doesn't make any sense, now does it?
That may be true for some, but I said no because it adds lots of factors that shouldn't even be there. Why risk glitches/bugs when there isn't a good reason to convert back in the first place.
There can be a risk of glitches/bugs with each update we do, this is no different, just because it has a risk of being bugged/glitched doesn't mean we shouldn't add it. If you're going to make that argument, then Mike might as well shut down the server because each update will cause new bugs and/or glitches. Also there's no reason we should be able to remove premium, donator, or honor statuses, but we can, and I don't see you bitching about being able to remove those, so what's the problem? Is it the new content?

You don't start the game with those statuses though, and removing them wouldn't affect high scores, trade, combat, drop rates, etc... also, what would be the point of reverting anyways?

trade, combat, drop rates, etc...
Neither would removing the iron man status

what would be the point of reverting anyways?
Maybe people will find it tiring an don't want to waste all of their hard work put into an account that they want to continue to use without the ironman status.

Edit: also there's an option on both versions of rs for the removal, so why not here too?

I just feel like it has the potential for problems, but if it could be added without lots of additional time/problems I will support it.

There are literally no possible glitches when converting back because the only things Ironmen have different to regular players is trade restrictions and access to statuses. If they lose the status, then there is no reason anyone could possibly have anything against them reverting; it does nothing negative except allow players who became bored of Ironman mode to continue playing the game another way with their account.

If you're so afraid of glitches, then you should vote no to every update to begin with. Instead of worrying about some impossible issue about Ironmen reverting, you should be focusing on the far more probable scenario that people can abuse something in Ironman to gain an advantage over other Ironmen (ie a way to trade).

I don't even know why it needed a poll; it doesn't hurt anybody if they can switch back.

Watch this be the one time Mike actually "listens" to the poll Image

Rude

At first, I was like "wow 61% saying they don't want the ability to revert, guess that's settled", but then I started reading the comments and some of you make really good points (others not so much).
On the bright side, I'm glad most of you manage to comment on other people's opinion in a (somewhat) respectful manner, so that's something.

I would personally prefer allowing players to revert the status. His ranting aside (at least this time it's towards other players, not us, so yay), Azu rite pretty much nailed the point in my opinion:
Azu rite wrote: Maybe people will find it tiring an don't want to waste all of their hard work put into an account that they want to continue to use without the ironman status.
I expect a bunch of people will encounter the same thing some people do with honor status: they get tired of it after a while because of the imposed limitations (even if they didn't expect to get tired of it at first). If they already put quite some work into the account, but can't revert it, they pretty much have a useless account and in some cases may end up quitting altogether because of all the "wasted" effort.

I do believe some people are voting for "no, don't allow reverting" for the wrong reasons. Perhaps they want increased droprates (or other perks) on ironman and know that if someone can revert the status, the perks won't be added. Others may believe it can introduce more bugs and glitches, but considering the way Iron man mode is being coded, there's a small chance of actual bugs or abuse (and if it does happen, it'll be easy to detect, fix and undo possible damange done).

TL;DR: at the end of the day, we're as far with Ironman mode as we are with Summoning: I can make it happen in a relatively short amount of time, but the community is divided on the specifications and we can't reach a consensus. The poll says "don't revert", a lot of our respected/veteran/knowledeable players (not always all 3) say "allow to revert", and I personally agree with the latter.

So how do we fix this?
