Might just be me, but the way that I see things is simple.
If Mike and Rapsey say that you won't get the Ex-Staff Rank if you resigned prior to the posting of this thread, then that's the end of story. If you're mad that you're not getting the rank (which, mind you, doesn't give you anything at all, besides a little title), then that's just too damn bad.
If Mike and Rapsey didn't make it a requirement to have resigned after this thread was made, then they would be spending pointless time giving everyone the rank if they qualified for it, even if the former staff member(s) haven't played for years (and I doubt that they would do this anyways).
In all honesty, does getting this rank or not really affect your life in the slightest whatsoever? I already know the answer to this question, and the answer is simply "No".
TL;DR, I'm going to be brutally honest with you, but if you feel entitled to get this rank because you think you deserve it/are qualified for it, then too bad. Stop bitching and moaning about it, because Mike has made it crystal clear that no amount of complaints are going to change his or Rapsey's mind.

Re: New beginnings
People feel as if all their hard work and commitment towards helping the server is being ignored and disregarded simply because of WHEN they were making their contributions. I completely understand why there would be some objections to that. It's essentially coming across as a "fuck you" for resigning before a certain date. They still deserve it. Even if they did it slowly, and 'in batches', I'm sure it would mean a lot to those who have previously devoted a lot of time to improving the server, just to be recognised for what they did.Bergeron wrote:Might just be me, but the way that I see things is simple.

If it matters so little to you and you're willing to tell others to essentially 'shut the fuck up' because of genuine disappointment about this decision, then when you eventually resign (whenever that may be), I'm expecting you to decline the rank and be treated as others have been.

there aren't too many staff members who were part of the team for like a year+, just do it for the people who are still active that would like it. it doesn't take long to ::giveexstaff-x for 10 players

Re: New beginnings
As there have been some changes to the Ex-Staff rule I'm going to summarize it again here.
This set of rules is final. I know some of you will still be disappointed with them, but we really can't do this for everyone who was ever staff and it doesn't feel right to make exceptions for a few people either. Believe me, I really want to make an exception for some people who really deserve it, but I know that if I do it will only spawn more drama. I'm not even sure if it would be fair, because being staff a few years ago was very different from being staff right now. The further you go back, the more different it was from what it is now, up to the point where it really can't be compared with being staff today.
But let's not forget it's only a title. Just because we're introducing it now doesn't mean we're suddenly less grateful for everyone who helped PkHonor in the past.
- The Ex-Staff title is only awarded to people who leave our staff team in 2015 and beyond.
- To be eligible for the Ex-Staff title you must have been an in-game staff member for at least 9 months since 2014.
- This time does not need to be served consecutively. You can take breaks.
- Any demotion for reasons other than inactivity resets your accumulated time.

Re: New beginnings
Exactly what Rapsey said. We'd love to make excepions for people who really deserve the ex-staff title, but once we start doing that, we're opening up a whole new can of worms.
We expected some people to be really angry about this, and I can't blame them, but we're taking the short pain over having to deal with months of drama and complaining and back-and-forth discussing about whom of our previous staff deserve it and who doesn't. You'll just have to make your peace with it.
As for Daan, it's not about trust. If we didn't trust him with Admin powers, we wouldn't have given him the admin rank to begin with. The main issues are the rarity of the rank (we've had lots of great admins in the past, but only 3 of them have the Advisor rank) as well as the numerous complaints we had about Daan in the past. Advisor has only ever been granted to admins whom we've never really had any issues with and who have always gotten along with both ourselves and the community, which, sadly, does not apply to Daan (though that's not the only reason).
We are grateful for all the hard work and dedication that he's put into PkHonor. But that doesn't mean we're going to bestow him with the most rare and prestigious of all ranks. Him being the first person to ever receive the rank of ex-staff was our way of saying thank you.
I'm just disappointed that whatever we try to do to make people happy, it's never enough. I hope that the people who keep complaining realize that the only thing they're accomplishing is that we're going to think twice before giving anyone anything in the future. Ironically, if we had chosen not to introduce ex-staff and not given anything to Daan, the amount of complaining would have been far lower. Think about that.
On that note, I'm hoping we can put the ex-staff and advisors discussions behind us so we can focus on the things that matter.
Or as Rapsey likes to say:
Seriously, stop making a big deal over nothing. Thank you.

Re: New beginnings
I don't think it's the best idea as some may use it to keep their ego going/become cocky pricks after getting it. But others may deserve it. Kind of just a guess on what will happen with it, let's see where it goes right.Rapsey wrote:As there have been some changes to the Ex-Staff rule I'm going to summarize it again here.
Why this change? It wasn't really fair that someone who took a break from staff in December would lose their time accumulated in 2014 while someone who resigned in January would not. Now it's the same for everyone. In addition I wanted to clarify that someone who was demoted for something serious has not lost all chance of obtaining this title, but will have to start again from zero.

Re: New beginnings
We can give it to people as easily as we can strip it away. Once granted, it doesn't mean we can't take it away afterwards. But of course, we would only do that if we have a good reason to.Evan wrote: I don't think it's the best idea as some may use it to keep their ego going/become cocky pricks after getting it. Re: New beginnings
Well yes of course. It is nothing more than a status though correct? My concern is mostly that if someone has that status and shows their butt, then people think poorly of the former, or current staff team. Even if it is stripped away.Mike wrote:We can give it to people as easily as we can strip it away. Once granted, it doesn't mean we can't take it away afterwards.
