The Kalphite Queen is unlocked by completing 26 of the Wise Old Man's achievements. It is an extremely efficient money maker and is great for earning pkp and obtaining hard/elite clues.
You can get to the Kalphite queen by telporting to her via the Monsters teleport in your spell book.
Gear
You're going to want to have higher defensive gear for KQ if you're going to solo it, such as Bandos armour, however, void is also very useful as you can easily switch between melee and ranged attacks.
Expensive Gear and Inventory
Cheaper Gear and Inventory
Void gear and Inventory
Void gear of the three will provide the most damage output (Unless you're on a slayer task using slayer helmet (Full void grants a +10% bonus, whereas Slayer helm provides a +15% combat bonus)), however i wouldn't recommend using it unless you have to compete with other people to get the kill, as you take a lot more damage, meaning spending more money on supplies and shorter trips. If you can't afford even the cheap gear shown here, I wouldn't recommend attempting to kill the Kalphite queen for profit, as you will likely only be able to get around 1-2kills per inventory and it won't be worth your time or the money spent on supplies. In a team, i would recommend bring slightly more prayer potions than food, as the damage is spread more meaning you can stay longer. With the expensive setup i currently use, I use around 1-2 brews per kill, getting around 8+ kills per inventory on average.
Keris is a dagger which is extremely powerful against the Kalphite queen, and is obtainable via your Weapons rack in your POH. I would recommend using this when possible for fastest kills.
Method
Before attacking the Kalphite Queen, pot up and pray melee. I would also advise keeping protect item on the whole time, just in case you die.
Once you are potted and have put on your prayer, it's time to go kill the Kalphite queen!
Pray Piety/Turmoil and begin to attack the Kalphite queen. Try to kill her as fast as you can as this is the only stage you will take damage in. Brew when needed and don't worry about super restores, as your stats will be restored with the Overload. If you're using the cheap method just eat when needed.
Once you've killed the Kalphite queen in this stage, you want to run behind the Kalphite Soldiers and trap the Kalphite queen so she cannot hit you. The only monsters that will be able to hit you is the Soldiers, however, with the Protect melee prayer on, you will receive no damage. Switch your Piety to Eagle Eye/Rigour pray and finish off the Kalphite queen.
Also, the final stage of the Kalphite queen is the decider of who gets the loot based on damage. All damage dealt in the first phase does not count towards the drop, so if you have to compete with other players, it may be worth bringing stronger ranging gear to ensure you grab the kill.
So why kill the Kalphite queen?
Done Correctly, the Kalphite Queen is an extremely efficient, fast money maker, and is also the only monster which drops the Dragon defender, and so the only way to obtain the Dragon defender without trade rights. I would recommend doing this solo for maximum profit, as the Kalphite queen drops items >100m, but often. You should alch the Enchanted pieces, Dagon'hai pieces (60m a piece), any dragon items, Rapid Renewal scroll and Augury scroll (54m). You should only sell Hard/Elite Caskets (100/150m / 1b) obtained or Rigour scrolls (Around 150m)
