It's that time of the year again! This month PkHonor celebrates its 17 year anniversary. No one knows the exact date it first went online, but we do know it was in May 2008 so we just celebrate for a whole month.
Double XP events every weekend
Good news, this year the month of May actually covers 5 weekends (we're adding June 1st to round it off) so you're geting 5 double XP events! As usual each of these events will last for 3 days, so you can take full advantage from Friday afternoon/evening all the way to Sunday evening.
Event schedule:
Event 1 (Friday May 2nd - Monday May 5th)
Starts in:
Ends in:
Event 2 (Friday May 9th - Monday May 12th)

Event 3 (Friday May 16th - Monday May 19th)

Ends in:
Event 4 (Friday May 23rd - Monday May 26th)

Event 5 (Friday May 30th - Monday June 2nd)

Ends in:
Additional +20% discount on all donations
This discount is additive, meaning that the regular discount now starts at 20% for donations of 500 credits or below and ends at 40% for donations of 10k credits or more (instead of 0-20%).
Ends in:
Warning: Due to the possibility of processing delays it is not recommended to make donations shortly before the end of the discount period, as this could lead to the discount event expiring before the donation is processed. If this does happen to anyone please send me a forum PM or contact staff.
Ultra-rare item sale
Hard to believe it's been almost 5 years since the last one, but I guess that means we are long overdue for another ultra-rare item sale. Gotta make sure PkHonor makes it to 18 years after all.

The items, their prices and the exact moment of the sale will be announced in a few days.

Replace the item with another unobtainable item. Otherwise it's a giant fuck you to everyone that has those things and to 'rare' sale items. I don't mind if you fuck over these players but you'll piss them off for what exactly?
So in one thread it's 1b is worth a lot and is equal to about one hour of play time and in the next thread 4t is taken just as lightly. What do you gain as a developer to kill the discontinued items? You see there's an economy for these items and I haven't seen you clarify your stance on them. I never cared for these old discontinued items and mightve forgotten but I know the policy is that devs don't randomly go handing out new discontinued items. So that means the current discontinued items are worth something imo. Players in the past got compensated. It's not against the rules. Everything suggests that the current situation is fine.
Then you can't ignore these items being worth something and you have no real reason to fuck over players like that. If you want to introduce the specific item for whatever reason, the item should be swapped out for something else that's just as rare.
I don't like buying out these items either as you're adding wealth to the game, not even an option in my opinion. So randomly adding them to the game and compensating players are both very bad ideas that shouldn't even be considered. Replace the item with any other cosmetic, there's a shit ton of quest items you can use anything. Or a fun item with a cosmetic perk so many options that don't harm anyone yet let the things have the value they've been going around for forever. It's like God resurrecting Rembrandt and saying yeah you just overpaid for your painting in the past cya
I wouldn't care if you also didn't throw super rares into a donator store sale. Is the item you paid
1000 euros for which is an insane microtransaction for a game even worth something? Having such a huge price and limited time sale suggests they are discontinued. But are they? Maybe you'll add them back in a while, nobody will buy them then though. Do you think players want all these rare items because they're beautiful cosmetics? Nah man they're ugly as fk. But since it's never crystal clear whether or not you are going to fuck over players with these items by bringing them back... Who's gonna buy a rare in the next sale? For 1000 euros in other games you get something relatively a lot more rare and discontinued. On here they're not even extremely rare given the playerbase.
I'd like to see some clear statement on the developers stance in the matter of discontinued and limited sale items. Either have everything crash overnight or make it clear for the future what these items are worth by saying they are discontinued. Of course you are not signing a contract saying they're discontinued but we can take your word for it and know the policy on these things.
Can't have these things be in the unknown while there's that much at stake... Thousands of hours of playtime and the equivalent of thousands of euros in ingame wealth.
My personal suggestion is give a list of acknowledged discontinued items with the policy that in the event of the developers wanting the item to be re released for any reason, the item will be replaced by another discontinued item that is somewhat comparabl (equipable w.e.).
I might be uninformed on this matter but the fact I don't see a crystal clear stance on this thread raises concerns to me. @Rapsey
Never got a reply on this so imma quote myself instead of typing the relevant bit again.

No one donates 1000 euros for an ultra-rare. They are bought exclusively by veterans who stockpiled credits over a long period sourced from many smaller donations. The reasoning for the approach is as follows:
- Donators want GP, but constantly spawning new GP into the eco is not great
- Rich veterans accumulate vast amounts of money with nothing to spend it on, so they end up bidding trillions for the rarest items
- We connected the two, so that the rich veteran money sink now funds the GP the donators want
- This also helps stabilize donations year-round which is what we want
The insanely high real money value follows from us trying to stay in the ballpark of the in-game value of the items, and not sell a 2T item for 200m worth of credits (which would risk devaluing it). It would also be disastrous for the economy if normal-sized donations consistently pump trillions into it, that's how plenty of other RSPS destroyed theirs.
An occasional ~11 EUR donation for a premium status is nowhere near enough to keep the server online. Most of the donated credits get stockpiled waiting for the next sale. The last one was almost 5 years ago, so that means there's about 5 years worth of credits piled up waiting to be spent. That's how you get to price tags like 1000 EUR. It's 1000 EUR that was donated in bits and pieces over the course of years, and which a select few have accumulated on the premise that they will eventually be able to spend it on something fairly exclusive (and usually worth more than what they paid for the credits).
I'm pretty sure we've already given a clear statement on the status of these items but let me reiterate it. There are no discontinued items (= items that were once available, then made unavailable with the promise that they will never become available again). There never were and there never will be. We can't stop people from making guesses about the future and gambling money on those, but absent any official declaration they remain just guesses. We also have no intention of ever declaring that any item will never be added again, because we don't see any benefit in creating a game of musical chairs where the last person standing is left with an invaluable item that's worth however much they want it to be.
Our official stated position is that we do not want to screw anyone over. Especially for the items that are now sold as ultra-rares in the donator store we have a vested interest in making sure they keep their value. The only hard promise we ever made (from the start of the sales) is that the item won't go on sale again for at least 6 months, but I think you can be pretty confident that we won't crash them. The proof is in the pudding. All the items that have gone on sale before have held their value or continued to go up. If an item does dip in price after a sale then we wouldn't touch that item again until long after it has recovered.
One of the reasons why they don't crash is that we don't actually increase the number of ultra-rares in the game. The number decreases naturally over time, mostly due to people getting banned. The ultra-rare sales provide us with a way to reintroduce those items and keep the number of ultra-rares steady, thus maintaining their position as sought-after commodities of which there are only a handful in the game.
If you're looking for extensive binding promises I'm afraid you're out of luck. You'll have to judge us by the evidence of our actions over the years. If you are worried about us crashing an item by flooding it into the game, I suggest you try to find an example of us doing that before. I don't remember it ever happening. We've always been careful not to do that and we will continue to be.

People get unbanned for anything anyway so gone items aren't gone in the long run. Only in really rare cases.
I see it as a devaluation but eh as long as we ban rich players often enough for at least months at a time it'll be economically stable. I don't want to buy them because its a weak investment but surely others will, especially if you buy some that are low in supply currently.

@Rapsey if the server keeps getting DDoS'd thoughout the weekend are there plans of adding an additional weekend of DXP?
Will the Ultra rare sale be pushed back as well due to the state of DDoS'ing?
