It appears the new client also had public chat colors & effects packed in it. I'm sure some players would like the ability to have some chat that stands out from other players. Ahh, the good old days of the World 1 public chat in Varrock/Falador with the hundreds of buyers/sellers all using their colors and fancy effects to try and stand out of the others.

On the other hand, sometimes simplicity simply looks more appealing to the eye - even if not always on a conscious level. So the question is: do we really want those effects in our public chat, or would that just end up making things messy and/or unappealing (just like threads that look like coloring books on the forums are just icky)?

For the record, these are the ones that appear to be supported:

• yellow
  red
  green
  cyan
  purple
  white
  flash1
  flash2
  flash3
  glow1
  glow2
  glow3
  wave
  wave2
  shake
  scroll
  slide

I'm not sure if these are also exactly the ones supported in OSRS (too lazy to look it up), but I think it might be.

don't allow them

their purpose is to stand out from other text but when everyone's using them, all in one area, it all blends anyway and it just gets fucking annoying and creates more spam

yes, its a cool thing that makes the server more unique.

don't make pkhonor turn into a shitty osrs by having a 100% replica of it. or u could just add a way to disable them through a toggle?
pkhonor is pretty bland in general, the colors really hype shit up in yell.

also not everyone knows how to do it, plus plus hayden

So to clear things up, these are just effects for the text that shows up then disappears? Or these are all affects for what stay in the chat box? I'm confused how you can have wave and stuff stay in the chatbox, but I know some servers have colored/glowing chatbox text.

he's not talking about <shad> etc. on yell, i believe he's talking about like wave:red: in public chat

Mike points out the good ol days of selling at varrock too.
well that shit doesn't happen on pkhonor, theres maybe 10 selling stuff at varrock, the rest use the GE or yell to sell, with that said, i don't think pleasing 1 player would please 200 others though.

Colors and glows are fine. Flash, scroll, waves, etc. get annoying, IMO.

We have them all right now anyways... I don't see why you should remove something from the new client that we have right now and no one seems to care about.
