Wilderness weekend, improved suggestions and a new trial dev
Posted: Mon Aug 24, 2015 12:01 am
Fun fact: the title of this post is exactly the maximum allowed length for a topic title. Way to go, Mike!
On a more serious note, we have three announcements to make:
Wilderness weekend
Next weekend, starting from 29 August and ending on 2 September, there will be a wilderness weekend!
What does this mean?
> Higher artifact/emblem droprates and 50% chance on +2 emblem tiers instead of +1
> +50% PkHonor Points from player kills
> +20% droprates on all NPC's that reside within the wilderness
> +50% Slayer Points from killing NPC"s in the wilderness
> +50% XP on any combat skill and +20% Slayer XP while in the wilderness
> +20% PkHonor Points and Pest Control Points from the WildyWyrm
Votes on suggestion threads
As of now, any thread made in the suggestions forum will have a 'thanks' button on the top right of the first post. This way, players can upvote suggestions and the top voted suggestions (the ones with the most 'thanks') will be shown on top of the forum. This way, our developers (and the Game Qualitee Committee) will have a much better overview of what the community actually wants and we'll be able to pick out the good suggestions much easier because they don't get lost in the sea of bad (or unrealistic/impossible/unwanted/...) suggestions. This will also give us a much clearer view on what the community wants so we can adapt accordingly.
Keep in mind that we still want players to set up a poll whenever they make an in-game suggestion. We're not going to delete your post if you don't include a poll, but we won't really know how many people actually favor your suggestion and how many don't (the comments only tell us so much). So we strongly advise to make use of the polls.
A new aspiring trial developer
Vcom contacted us recently, stating he was learning programming at university and is interested in becoming a developer for PkHonor to improve his programming skills and knowledge. I've had a conversation with him about it and have agreed to give him a chance. With his background and knowledge, he should be able to add in smaller things and in time perhaps larger features such as quests etc. It'll take me some time to teach him about the code, but hopefully it'll be worth it.
If we could have three PkHonor game developers in the long run, that would certainly benefit us a great deal and I'm sure the community wouldn't mind more updates either
If all goes well, we'll soon bestow him with the official title of trial developer (probably when he's released his first few smaller features). Keep in mind this title will not give him any more say or power than any other player in the game, but it would be nice if our community could aid him and come up with some diverse and simple tasks for him to start off with, so he can get to know the PkHonor source code better and manage to add things on his own.
I have yet to put some of his skills and knowledge to the test, but we'll soon find out whether he's capable and if he has the necessary requirements to become our next developer.
