Ironmen and Nex

Just looking for clarification.

I recently got a whip of fortune and while using it at Nex I realized the Wise Old Man (NPC that stays helping Irons kill Nex even after the quest) always has the last hit. Now because he's an NPC I'd imagine his hit doesn't count, but the Whip of Fortune requires the last hit to give the 14% bonus in drops, I just want to confirm that because the Old Man hits even when Nex is 0 HP, can it be confirmed that his hits don't negate the bonus of the Whip of Fortune?

just wear the fortune whip before the loot spawns and it should be fine

fortune doesn't require the last hit, it requires you to do at least 1 damage (with any item) and to be worn before loot spawns from what i remember.

Something about equipping it when you get the slayer xp for killing Nex and it works. Without slayer just keep it equipped whilst Nex planks
